[There's a blurry shot of saddle shows and ankle socks, and Parker sounds out of breath and teary.]

Mama! Mama! Please come back. Please.

[Open for random spam if someone wants to run into a weepy Parker looking for the mother she thinks is aboard because of ghosts.]

[A little gangly ten year old hears the sound of a girl crying and comes running. Because that's what you're supposed to do when girls cry.] Hey! Wait! [He calls as soon as he catches sight of her and chases after her.]

[Miss Parker turns around when she hears a boy calling for her, and she quickly stops and sniffles a bit.]

Have you see my mama?

[ Oh, he recognizes this girl. She talked to him once - he should try to help! Mommy always taught him to help people who are in trouble if he can! ]

Um. [ Why does he not know her name... ] Hey! Where are you?

I haven't seen any grown women since I came here. [Unless they were alien, because apparently aliens could be girls and look like boys. Narvin was a girl, right?] But I'll help you look if you want me to. What's she look like?

She shouldn't be here. [Parker's voice was soft but insistent, and she shook her head for a moment before she sniffled and wiped her face with the back of her hand.]

She died three months ago.

But... there are people from all kinds of time periods here. Maybe she's here when she's younger. [And there's aliens, but there might be ghosts.]

[He comes over to her and puts a hand on her shoulder.] We'll look anyway, okay?

[Parker's face lit up with hope at that. It was clear that she hadn't thought of that at all.]

She looks like me, only prettier. And she has the best smile.

[A little nod and a lip wibble, because she wanted to find her mother so damn badly.]

She sounds pretty like Grace Kelly. [She was in a lot of scary movies, but she was very pretty. He takes her hand to hold, even though she's a little taller than him so it's kind of silly for him to try to be all tough and noble and such.] We could go look at the garden maybe and see if she's there.

She's prettier than Grace Kelly. And has hair darker than mine. It's almost black. And her eyes are blue. [Parker nodded, because she was certain that her mama was more like Elizabeth Taylor than Grace Kelly. Maybe Natalie Wood.]

My mama did like flowers. She'd go to Maine to see them in the summer.

[All girls like flowers. He is 99% sure of this at this age. Therefore it's inevitable that she must have at some point went to see the flowers.] I saw a little boy sleeping up there earlier. It's a big place. If she was here, it's somewhere she must have been.

[And he remembers where the garden is generally, so that's where he starts heading. But he decides to stop with the comforting hand-holding because he's worried his hand's about to get all sweaty and that would be embarrassing and not very presentable.]

Why was he sleeping there and not in his room? [Parker frowned quickly at that, because it didn't make any sense in her head. After all, people had rooms and they slept in them, even at the Centre. There were loads of rooms here that she'd found when she'd gone exploring with Stephanie yesterday.

When he pulled his hand away, Parker frowned but she didn't say anything. Instead she just put her hand in the pocket of her sweater.]

She was flying around though. And moaning, like on Scooby Doo.

I don't know. Maybe he was from a place where rooms are scary. [He really wished he'd come with a change of clothes, though. He was tempted to go put on one of those big black suit coats in the closet just because it looked good to curl up in.]

She was flying and moaning? [That's... more like his previous theory.] Did you know there are aliens on board? [He hoped it wasn't one of them, because that was a mean thing to do to a kid. And in his little screwed up brain made him angrier than it did scared.]

[Miss Parker knew about scary rooms and scary hallways and even scary air conditioning ducts from her time at the Centre. For a moment she didn't say anything, and then she spoke softly.] Maybe we can find him and take him to my room. It's nice in there, and he doesn't need to be scared.

Aliens? My mama is not an alien. She was a ghost.

[He kind of hopes it was her momma. Because then he could be sure that it was good.] What was her name? [And he liked her idea about the little boy. If they could find him again, it might be good to offer him a safe and clean place to hide.]

Catherine Parker. Catherine, never Cathy or anything. My mama never likes to be called Cathy. [Doctor Raines had called her it a few times, and her mother had been incredibly livid.]

Do you think we should get a candle? They always have candles in ghost stories.

I didn't have any candles. I only found a lighter. [He admits grudgingly. He hates being unprepared.] Do you know where to find one?

There were candles in my room. [She frowned quickly, because Miss Parker didn't like her room. It was her mama's room, right down to the smell of the room and her bedding. It was creepy.]

I'll go there if you come with me.

Okay. [It was a quick agreement. Brave little boy, or rather fearless. Even if there was a ghost.] I miss my mom too. [He moved to follow her.] Nothing happened to her, but she decided she didn't want to stay anymore.

[Miss Parker had learned, early in her Centre life, that adventures were best done with groups of people. Right now Slick was her pseudo Jarod. Without really thinking, Parker extended her hand behind her to take his.]

Your mama left? That's horrible. I'm sorry.

Parker? [Starts moving.] Parker, where are you?

I'm on the sixth floor.

I'm on my way, alright?

[He took hers again, guessing that she needed it more than he needed to worry about his palm being sweaty.] It's okay. She wasn't very happy and I really wanted her to be. I think Pops wanted her to be, too. [They could at least see the flowers, though. Even if her mom wasn't there, flowers made girls feel better. He was sure of this.] Did your mom have a favorite type of flower?

[Parker just kind of clung to the hand the hand, holding onto it really rather tightly. She didn't want to let go of it for anything.]

Did it make your Daddy sad?

[For a moment she was silent before she said softly.]

My mom liked wild flowers more than ones grown in rows, but she loved daisies.

Okay. [A beat.]

Hurry, please.
