[Paddy was definitely paying attention, and moved over to her and put his hand on her arm,]

I... Parker, you've gotta talk to her about that. I can't make her do it.

[Long pause and he looked at her,] Don't fucking well hold that in. It ain't gonna work. Please.

[Parker would have flinched if it had almost anyone else. There were three people whom she trusted to touch her right now, and Paddy definitely was one of them. She spun to look at him when he said that she needed to talk to Laura.]

I don't know if I can. Honestly, this is just so fucking new to me...

[She touched the corner of her lip where the ghost in the form of her father had split it, and a part of her felt that she could still feel it there.]

[Paddy kept his hand on her arm, and looked up at her,] Parker, just do whatever fucking works, man.

And lemme know if I can help.

Talking isn't going to work. I've had a therapist up my ass for years and it hasn't done anything. And I don't wanna talk to the blond chick.

[Parker quickly jerked her arm away from Paddy.]

I'm going to be fine. This doesn't fucking change anything about me 'cept for it giving me a get out of jail free pass for when I kill my father

[Paddy sighed and shoved his hands awkwardly in his pockets, thinking that the whole reason Denise was objecting was the whole 'get out of jail free' thing, but hey.]

I meant, just cause I fucking brought it up. I didn't mean to, and I'm.. fuck, I'm sorry.

[Parker's biggest issue with all of this was the concern that people in her life who knew her best would start treating her differently. She knew that Denise had always known, and she knew that Jarod had suspected since she'd been taken away from the Centre, and so that didn't matter, what mattered was how Paddy thought of her.]

I don't know what the fuck to say to you right now, Paddy.

I'll head off, if you want. If you don't, then we can try that drinking without talking about anything of interest thing.

[Pause] I'll head off.

[Parker said the words quickly, but there was no real venom or fire in them.]

[He frowned,] Parker, I ain't going to. I know some fucked up shit about some fucked up people, and it don't change a thing. Promise. I'll fucking swear on it.

[She smirked at him then picked up the bottle of whiskey and filled her glass with it, taking a drink.]

Hey, don't you call me fucking old? Drunk, I'll take, but old is not fucking on, Parker. It just ain't.

Alright, Paddy-cakes. You're not old.

[He frowned at her,]

Just because I'm a grandfather and am fifty fucking something and occasionally forget shit and have grey bits in my beard doesn't make me old.

[Pause]

[Parker frowned back and then she took another sip of her drink.]

How about I just think it really loudly?

And my son's fucking thirty two! [He shook his head with a slight laugh,]

I can hear you thinking, you know.

He is fucking not!

[Parker grins at him.]

Yeah? What am I think right now?

You're probably thinking 'actually, he might be thirty two and knocked up some lass when he was 18 then married her because that's how Catholics roll'

[He smirked at her] And now you're thinking 'Jesus Fucking Christ, I'm two years older than his son'.

[Parker smirked back.] Yeeeeah, [She said, drawing out the sound quickly.]

That's exactly what I'm thinking.

[Only she completely wasn't.]

[Paddy grinned and pointed right at her,] See? Fucking genius right here.

Ugh huh. And what am I thinking right now? [She smirked at him again and picked up the bottle, filling her glass. This was fun.]

[He picked up his glass and downed the contents,] I think you're thinking 'fuck, this guy's crazy, I need a drink.'

[Which was nothing like what he was thinking.]

Yeah, [She laughed.] That is definitely what I'm thinking.

Fill me up, would ya?

[He poured her a new drink, then poured himself one.]

Shame. I was almost hoping I was wrong and you had much more sordid thoughts going off. Or something.
