[Parker had known that it was coming. She'd know after everything had happened and Laura had been a bad ass, even if she didn't remember quite how Laura had done it. But she knew that once she'd done it, she'd graduate. She'd graduate and Paddy would be going too. Parker was happy for Laura, and she'd wrapped up a package and set it on her desk next to the glass of scotch that she hadn't really been drinking. They'd come, and it'd be time to go.]

[Parker opens the door and takes a step back, heading to the table. She picks up the package, it's old wrapping, and the paper is yellowing a bit. On the inside, there's a leather journal.]
Here.

[Laura opens the gift carefully, and finds the leatherbound journal inside. She can feel tears starting to prickle as she runs her hand over the smooth surface.]
It's beautiful.

[Parker is shit at goodbyes, and she's shit at people leaving and she's generally shit at the whole touching people thing, but... she awkwardly held out one arm for a hug, cause that's what fucking people did, right?]

I'm going to miss you so much.

I'm going to miss you too, kiddo.
You earned this. Don't ever think you didn't.

Yep. You helped me too, don't fucking forget it.

[Well, that's surprising.]

You go have your happy life, kiddo.

[She's not going to say that she's not sure if she'll even get any life, much less a happy one. She doesn't want the people she cares about to worry.]
I won't forget you.

[The words are spoken with a smile, and she touched Laura's hair again.]
You're going to be okay.

I know.

[Parker smiled back, but it was sadder.]
I expect you to show up on those fucking weird days, you know.
Until then, bye kiddo.

[Whatever that may be. She has no idea what options will be open to her yet. She doesn't say goodbye, though.]
I love you, Miss Parker.
[And she does. She loves Paddy, and Parker...for being more of a family to her than her own ever was.
She makes her exit before she can start crying.]
