[He waited for her to enter, and followed her in behind, holding the door and pausing in the entryway to survey the area. It was the first time he'd been in the pub; part of him expected the little bar in South America. A moment later, he headed toward the bar, glancing at her.]

Beer will do.

[Parker watched him as he looked around, and then she moved behind the bar. Once she would have asked, but decided that if he'd a preference, he would have told her about it and she didn't want to ask again. Going with a bottle of Bud (All American or whatever the hell), Parker poured herself a whiskey and then headed to wherever he'd decided to take a seat, his file below her arm.]

[It was the file much more than the beer that he cared about, and it was that he watched as he followed her, taking a seat first. He saw no reason to stand on courtesy and etiquette with this woman; she was his jailer, not his equal. Not even a mutant. There would be no pulled out chairs from him.]

And finally we are here, [he says dryly, holding out his hand - presumably for the beer.]

Yeah. Finally.

[Parker knew that the file was what he'd wanted, because she'd been there herself. Once she'd been desperate to read her own file, and it had taken her fifth warden to fork it over to her.

She handed him the beer, and then she folded her hands over the file.]

Where do you want to work, Erik?

Tell me my options again, [he drawled, popping off the top of his beer, though he didn't take a drink. He just watched her, eyes dropping briefly to the file under her hands.] I can't wait to decide.

[Parker knew what he wanted, and she needed to forcefully prevent herself from rolling her eyes at him. Getting angry(er) wasn't going to help with anything.]

Kitchen. Infirmary. Library.

[She didn't think maintenance was a good idea. Somehow.]

[He would have jumped on that, too. :c] Not much of a selection.

[He's read enough to know she's on the kitchen staff, and he's pretty sure he doesn't want to spend any more time with her than is necessary. And he wants that file. So.] The library. If I must.

It's not like it's the real fucking world, Erik. And I'm not a career counselor.

[Parker scowled at him for a moment, and then she nodded.]

I'll talk to Chromie. How are you doing otherwise?

You have such a foul mouth for such a pretty woman. [He isn't complimenting her even a little.]

I am waiting, Miss Parker. I've chosen a profession for this stage in my life. I believe you owe me something, now.

So I've fucking heard. [There's a grin, and Parker knows that he's not.]

I'll give it to you when we're done here. We're not fucking done. I'm your warden and I'm supposed to check in on your wellbeing. That's what I'm doing right now. So play along, alright?

[His jaw visibly clenches, and he's debating just walking out. But then he forces a smile.]

I'm fantastic. I'm in excellent health, though I can't seem to move much more than a lamp without using my arms. I'm in top form. [The smile is more than a little sour by now.] Are you satisfied?

[Parker's face is entirely cold, and then she just shoved the file across the table.]

We'll discuss it after you've read it. I mean it, as soon as you're done.

[He doesn't let himself snatch itup, though he wants to. Instead, he waits for it to come to a complete stop, then settles his hand on top of it, faintly possessive.]

Oh yes. The very second I've finished.

I mean it, Erik. If I have to go hunting your ass down we're going to have a problem.

[She stopped herself from coupling her words with a sharp point of her finger even though she really wanted to do it.]

Don't we already? [His voice is icy, on the dangerous side of calm, and he stares at her for a long moment before standing up and pushing his chair back, taking the file with him.]

Excuse me. It seems I have some reading to do.

[Parker's jaw is working and she looks like she wants to say something to him, likely something angry, but in the end she just lets him go.]
